Citrus Park story…
Bonita Springs, Florida – This is where you’ll find Citrus Park, nestled a midst beautiful, lush gardens. It’s a unique community, with its individual sites connected through narrow streets, and where residents are bond through close ties of friendship. For nearly 40 years, this tranquil, family-owned and operated RV and Mobile Home resort community has been thriving, and has become one of Southwest Florida’s best kept secrets.
Erich Joseph Trost was born 1929 in Kornbach, Germany. His heritage was that of a middle class farming family were he was the eldest son of six children. During those early days it was expected that the eldest son would take over the family farm and its livestock. However, Erich had visions that far surpassed the boundaries of this little German town.
In the 1970s Erich Trost discovered what was to become Citrus Park, located on the East side of Bonita Springs, and approximately 7 miles from some of the loveliest beaches in Florida.
Through the small windows of a chartered airplane, Erich had taken his first glimpse of an orange grove that would eventually be developed by him into what we know today as Citrus Park. In the beginning it was hard to comprehend Erich’s vision. All one saw was wilderness with a dirt road running through the middle of the property. There was no infrastructure and only a handful of isolated houses nearby.
A few years later, one could witness major improvements and progress on the property. Citrus Park began developing into a very comfortable and generously laid out RV & Mobile Home Resort.
Erich Trost enjoyed the interaction first hand with the park residents. He often took part in many of the daily activities. One of his favorite past-times was sipping his favorite wine while playing the piano at the Rec Hall.
Today, Citrus Park truly stands out among RV Mobile Home parks. It offers spacious sites all in the heart of Florida’s nature and its abundant wildlife. It offers privacy to its residents and at the same time provides every type of activity imaginable. It features 3 heated swimming pools, 2 softball fields, 5 tennis courts, a clubhouse, a recreation hall, 16 shuffleboard courts and numerous scheduled daily activities. Here in Citrus Park you will find a community comprised of all walks of life and in turn Citrus Park offers something for everyone.
The well maintained facility invites you to linger and to take in the pleasant, family-like atmosphere. It is a place where everyone has the opportunity to become involved, happy, and active.
Our goal is to continue the vision that Erich Trost saw so clearly nearly four decades ago, yet at the same time promote the property to remain modern and reasonable for everyone.
Thank you Mr. Trost, for our little piece of paradise!
